Autumn colour trends 2010

I used to think that my favorite time of year was spring but now I'm finding autumn to be so picturesque.  I'm simply loving the flamboyancy and richness of colours in the leaves - the reds, the burnt orange and yellows, the varying shades of browns.  Perhaps it's because my daughter is always stopping to pick up leaves and enjoys just kicking them around once they are all bunched together.  

I am captivated by the stretches of golden and reddish leaves on expanses of grass.  What a lovely picture especially when we're lucky enough to have a setting sun.  I'm so reminded of this unique handbag when I'm thrashing through leaves with my daughter - with its oval shape and copper handles and magnificent colour.  According to Vogue "autumn's most flamboyant trend is all about colour, chaos and creativity," and this leather handbag is ticking all those boxes.

Rounded Lines Spring Summer 09

Spring summer 09 looks set to be all about rounded lines, from slightly curved shoulder lines to the more exaggerated and dramatic incorporation of circles and semi circles into the shape of the clothes. This is a development on this seasons full and rounded shapes that were seen in the tulip style skirts and rounded shoulders.

The huge disc shaped shoulders at Dolce and Gabbana made an interesting retro like silhouette with the elegant straight skirt and luxurious fabric.

Christopher Kane used the scales of prehistoric creatures as inspiration for his bright and eye catching outfit with amazing circle covered sleeves.

Again at Chloe, circles were used to create an interesting line along the shoulders and arms. This time the circles were a lot smaller giving a more delicate look.

You can use this trend as an inspiration to create your own look using rounded lines. Look for prints made of geometric circles and large spots, jewellery in circle or semi circle shapes, accessories with rounded shapes and clothes with rounded shoulder or skirt shapes.
